Painting is just another way of keeping a diary. (Pablo Picasso)
Recently I had the joy of travelling through the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The first trip to a new land needs to be balanced with the joy of discovery and the need to capture it. We, as artists, don't often buy postcards as souvenirs... our plein air paintings serve that purpose. This is the first “souvenir” painted near Westport. The sky is typical of Ireland. If you don’t like the weather... wait a minute.
