“Every good painting must be based on good drawing. Drawing is like the bones to the human body.” (Diana Kan)
I just came upon a painting I started on a lovely sunny day in the town of Tyrone. For some reason, I never got around to completing it. As the saying goes, it had “good bones”. I set about to finish it, some darks, a different sky, some shadows and it brought back the memories of that day. That’s the joy of ‘plein air’ painting... you always have the memories of the time spent painting on location. And, in this case, the memories of the ‘goodies’ purchase in the mill store before we left!
