Half finished...

A painting that is well composed is half finished. (Pierre Bonnard)

I started this plein air watercolour sketch at a Neil's family homestead on Horseshoe Valley Road. We arrived for a reunion of old friends at the property that also houses an antiques barn. Although the reunion was for dinner and an evening concert, Margaret and I made the trip to arrive early and do some painting. I was able to get a good foundation down before the others arrived. Neil pointed out “that was my window at the back of the house when growing up”. We had a wonderful day. The painting languished, half finished but with “good bones”, for more than a year. Finally, I applied some finishing touches in time to show it during our Studio Tour this year.
