East Coast Colour

Colour is a power which directly influences the soul.
(Wassily Kandinsky)

Several years ago I painted a plein air watercolour in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, across the harbour from Halifax. It was a composite of a number of funky little shops and storage sheds, all painted with funky colours, in a tourist destination called Fisherman’s Cove. They were strung out along the water in a line. I sketched each one and created a fishing village that existed only in my mind. It sold quickly when first exhibited. I decided to recreate my village a little larger and in acrylics. I love having it hanging on my walls. It brings a smile to my face and a bit of joy to my soul.
