Heritage Lost

Sketching outdoors was a fluid process, half looking, half dreaming, awaiting invitation from the spirit of the subject to “come meet me halfway”. (Emily Carr)

We lost a piece of our heritage this year. Stouffville, Ontario has grown in leaps and bounds over the last several years. The once farm town has become more of a bedroom community for the Greater Toronto Area. One of the last visual reminders of or past was the large grain elevator beside the railway tracks in the centre of town. We lost it to a few commuter parking spaces. We lost a link to our past and to the town's soul.
