I hate camping, but I love summer camp. (Zooey Deschanel)
I never had the opportunity to attend summer camp until a few years ago. We visited a boys camp located in the woods of Algonquin Park that has been an institution in the wilds for many years. Beginning in 1935, it has become a big part of many lives... kids go to camp, return, year after year, come back as counsellors, and some are now running the camp. It has a lovely old original boat house that houses canoes, kayaks and everything needed for aquatic fun. I needed to make my own memories of this icon of summers past and future... a very quick watercolour sketch below for all you summer campers.
