Plein Air Painting

No one would have the courage to walk up to a writer and ask to look at the last few pages of his manuscript, but they feel perfectly comfortable staring over an artist's shoulder while he is trying to paint. (Robert Genn)

Last Saturday in my home town, Stouffville, Ontario, there was a “Plein Air Competition”. I’m not one that sees creating art as a competitive sport. It was, however, just the kick in the pants to get out and paint that I needed! I bi-passed the entrance formality and just went to paint amongst my peers for the joy of it. It was a wonderful morning spent doing what I enjoy most. I attended the jurying and would have been hard pressed to pick a winner. The range of skills was only exceeded by the enthusiasm of the painters. They were all winners in my eyes. I have attached my humble effort below.
